Educator, applied linguist, and researcher

Abby Porter Mack

Language and language teaching gained my interest after I first visited Chihuahua, Mexico when I was in high school, which led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Spanish. I gained experience as a licensed Spanish and ESL teacher in secondary schools and also worked in bilingual corporate settings. Later, I pursued a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University while working in higher education program administration.

Currently, I'm having a fun time teaching intermediate and advanced students in the American Language Institute in the School of Professional Studies at New York University.

When I'm not thinking about languages or language teaching, I enjoy biking around town, running in Central Park, cooking, reading and writing blogs (especially about design), and playing fetch with my dog, Ike.
